Are Clear Aligners
What Are Clear Aligners?
Clear aligners are a modern, discreet orthodontic treatment used to straighten teeth and correct bite issues. Made from transparent, medical-grade plastic, they are custom-designed to fit snugly over your teeth and gently shift them into proper alignment over time.
Popular brands include Invisalign and others, but all operate on the same basic principle: using a series of removable trays to gradually move teeth into their ideal positions.
Benefits of Clear Aligners
- Virtually Invisible
Clear aligners are nearly undetectable when worn, making them an ideal option for adults and teens concerned about aesthetics. - Removable and Convenient
You can remove aligners to eat, drink, brush, and floss — no dietary restrictions or complicated cleaning routines. - Comfortable to Wear
Made from smooth, BPA-free plastic with no metal wires or brackets to cause irritation. - Improved Oral Hygiene
Easier to maintain clean teeth and gums compared to traditional braces, reducing the risk of cavities and gum disease. - Fewer Dental Visits
Clear aligner treatments often require fewer office visits compared to traditional orthodontics. - Predictable Results
Treatment is typically mapped out digitally, allowing you to preview your expected progress and outcome.
How Clear Aligners Work
- Consultation and 3D Scanning
Your dentist or orthodontist evaluates your teeth and takes digital impressions or scans to design your treatment plan. - Custom Aligner Fabrication
A series of aligners is created, each slightly different to guide your teeth through specific movements. - Wearing the Aligners
You’ll wear each set of aligners for 20–22 hours per day, switching to a new set every 1–2 weeks as prescribed. - Monitoring Progress
Periodic checkups are scheduled to monitor movement and adjust the plan if needed.
Total treatment time varies but typically ranges from 6 months to 18 months, depending on the complexity of the case.

How to Care for Clear Aligners
- Wear as Directed
Keep aligners in for the recommended time daily. Remove only to eat, drink (except water), brush, and floss. - Clean Regularly
Rinse them with lukewarm water and clean gently with a soft toothbrush and clear, fragrance-free soap. Avoid toothpaste—it can scratch the aligners. - Avoid Heat
Keep aligners away from hot water or direct sunlight, as heat can warp the plastic. - Store Properly
Use the provided case when aligners are not in use. Avoid placing them in napkins or pockets. - Maintain Good Oral Hygiene
Brush and floss after every meal before putting your aligners back in to prevent staining and plaque buildup. - Follow Up With Your Dentist
Regular check-ins are essential to ensure treatment is progressing corr.
